Meeting Our Environmental Responsibilities

The Board of Directors of Murco Petroleum Limited regard the achievement and maintenance of the highest standards of health, safety and environmental quality as a prime objective for management and employees at all levels throughout the organisation.

This objective is considered to be of equal importance to any other objective of the company and, in the event of any conflict between safety and the demands of operational expedience, safety takes precedence.

It is the policy of the company to do all that is reasonably practicable to eliminate foreseeable health or injury hazards and to protect everyone, including contractors and the general public, from such foreseeable hazards insofar as they come into contact with the company's staff, our office, refinery, terminal and forecourt facilities or products.

The company is committed to conducting its operations in a way that minimises the risk of damage to the environment and will comply with all laws, regulations and standards for the protection of the environment, in particular, the exercising of special care over emissions, waste and the handling of hazardous substances.

It is the company's intention to minimise the possibility of hazardous occurrences by identifying potential risks and implementing suitable preventative measures in order to protect not only human life but also the environment and material assets.

To assist in reaching these standards the company's policy is to:

• Install plant and equipment that is fit for purpose and designed to an appropriate standard
• Use and develop only those processes and procedures that can be proven to be safe by means of controlled experimentation or well attested experience
• Promote safe working practices through the adequate and appropriate training of all personnel
• Promote continuous improvement and identify safer systems of working
• Encourage all employees to make a positive contribution toward achieving higher standards of health and safety and environmental awareness
